Palin saved the GOP

The day after the Democratic Convention the anointing of Obama was about to be made, except Senator McCain had an ace in the hole, named Sarah Palin. The resulting soaring of McCain in the Polls was a net result of the Palin Effect. If not for the Colapse of the Economy, the crashing Financial Crisis, the bottoming out of housing boom...who knows what would have happened this past tuesday...
Certainly, Obama would still have been the likely victor, but let us dispell some bogus Naratives from the Media...
1) McCain was hurt by Sarah Palin...
Exit Polls show that for 33% she had zero impact.
Exit Polls show that only 7 % considered it the Most Important Factor in their decision...they sided with Obama 52 to McCain 47
Hardly an impact that changed McCain's outcome...
However...
33% of those polled said it was an important factor, they sided with McCain 53 to 47...while 20% who held it as a minor influence sides with McCain by a 66% margin...
So what impact did she have?
the same polls asked the key question Was the Palin Selection a factor in your choice, the answer was...
those who answered YES favored McCain 56 to 43, while those who answered NO favored Obama 64 to 33...

The net result is that she was a full net gain...
any person claiming she was the reason they voted against the McCain ticket are clearly disengenious. They never were going to vote for McCain anyway.

The base was energized and was the only energy the campaign had...if not for the Palin selection, this would have been more like 1964 than 1980.

Ulitmately Palin brought the conservative base into the McCain camp, which had been lacking...if not for Palin the campaign would have fared worse than Dole, or even that of Goldwater!
