Much is being made about the one meeting between McCain and Palin before he met her at his Ranch last week. So, the Dem talking heads are bemoaning that fact, only met once before she was brought to the Ranch. Yet, one only has to look back to the Convention of 44 to see that FDR wanted Henry Wallace replaced becuase he had been openly campaigning for the job, that to replace FDR, as everyone knew his time was coming.
FDR allowed for the brokered selection of Truman, from the Pendergast Gang of Kansas City to be seated as the nominee. Truman, to the best of my research, had never met FDR...it is certainly possible they had, not I can not find any evidence of such. The current DEMS seem to not know, realize or care about this.
IT GETS WORSE, for the DEMS...
FDR only spoke to Truman twice after the election while Truman served as Vice President before FDR's death. Yes, so while the World was at War, the decisions of the post War and Nazi World was being carefully considered, the reigning Democratic President of the United States only choose to speak to his Vice President twice.
Sarah Palin has a decided advantage over Harry Truman, she has served as a Governor so understands the role of a chief executive. Truman, however, had significantly more experience as a chief executive than Joe Biden had as a VP nominee as Truman had failed in business prior to politics.
Ulitmately, Truman succeeded as President by most accounts. Perhaps it is becuase he had experienced the 'buck stops here' requirements of being an executive.
